Plan calls for remake of old button factory in Scranton into counseling center
The project by Charles Jefferson of Jefferson- Werner LLC calls for renovating a vacant, former button factory on Cedar Avenue at Cherry Street in South Side, and moving the Scranton Counseling Center there from its current pair of unconnected buildings on Adams Avenue.

Developers pitch plans for Lackawanna County’s Administration Building
“The building needs to pop when you drive into town, and it should, because it’s an awesome building,” Jefferson said while detailing his plans for street-level restaurant and retail space and a minimum of 50 apartment units throughout the building. “This is such a key corner in the downtown, and there needs to be life there.” If Jefferson is able to buy the building, the total conversion project would likely cost between $10 million and $12 million and take 20 to 24 months to complete, he estimated, noting business tenants would rent the restaurant and retail space.
