SCRANTON (WOLF) — Downtown Scranton just got a new splash of art.
Two murals were unveiled Friday.
One on the side of Cosmic Cinema and the other on the side of the Leonard Theater.
It’s part of an effort by NorthEast Art Project to bring more murals to the area.
“With my idea was just a process of the life cycle,” said Monica Simon, the artist behind the Leonard Theater mural. “When you think something is ending it might just be beginning.”
“Scranton has had its bright sunny days and it’s dark days and it’s one thing that’s always awesome is when you come by a blank wall and then all of a sudden there’s art on it,” said Ryan Hnat, the owner and CEO of NorthEast Art Project. “It just brightens you up.”
The Leonard Theater mural is actually the first made in partnership with First Friday Scranton.
They’ll help pay for one new mural for every First Friday going forward.
