Apartments Pitched for Former Ice House in Bethlehem
Developer Charles Jefferson plans to create the next cool place to live in a building that started out as a 19th century icehouse in south Bethlehem. Inside a five-story brick warehouse at Adams and Fourth streets, the project would feature 30 apartments and a first-floor cafe that spills into the courtyard.

Downtown Lofts Opening Doors for Mixer
Owner Charles Jefferson and the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce plan a free mixer event to showcase the Samters Lofts from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lackawanna and Penn avenues in downtown Scranton. The nearly 100-year-old, five story building is now in the earliest stages of restoration.

Peach Music Festival Returns to Montage Mountain for Weekend of Music, Camping, and More
Peach Music Festival rocks its sixth year at the Pavilion at Montage Mountain Thursday, Aug. 10, through Sunday, Aug. 13. Started by the Allman Brothers Band and pavilion concert promoter Live Nation, the festival was modeled after the Wanee Festival in Live Oak, Florida, according to a Times-Tribune story in 2012. Due to its scenic mountain setting paired with proximity to restaurants, shops, hotels and more, the Pavilion at Montage Mountain seemed an ideal venue for the festival.

U.S. Census Estimates Scranton Population is Growing
Scranton may have increased its population to 77,291, which is up about 1.5-percent or 1,200 people over the last few years. Jessica Kalinoski of Admiral Management has helped to renovate Scranton’s Connell building and the former Chamber of Commerce property into apartments. She says demand is so high she constantly has a waiting list. Her company will soon begin converting the old Samter’s building into living space. “Seventy-one percent of our tenants in our buildings are from out of Scranton. About 43-percent of them are from out of the state in general,” Kalinoski said.
